Cerebral Palsey (paulsy) - mixed Cerbal Palsy |
|
| Cerbal Palsy - CP, or Little's disease, is a common name for several similar conditions brought on by an early brain damage, before or around birth. The most common types are Spastic cerebral palsey and Athetoid cerebral paulsy. | |
Mixed CP :Mixed muslce tone, some muscles to tense, others too loose. A less common variety in the CP disorder group.

There is also the Ataxic version, athetoid CP and spastic CP (most common). The mixed CP is the least common of the different variants of CP. The brain damage causing the disease (group of diseases) can typically come from lack of oxygen during birth, pre-natal damages or post-natal damages to the outer skull (during the first 1-2 years - after that, the brain has developed and CP is no longer a risk). Mixed CP is when the muscle tone is too low in some muscles and too high in others (unlike the Athetoid type where the the tone is mixed in time). This means it is a mix of the spastic type of CP and the random and involuntary movements connected with athetoid cerebral palsy. The origin is from damages to the pyramidal as well as the extra pyramidal brain regions. Spastic movements are often visible first, and the random movements coming in when the child is a few years of age. The combination of spastic/athetoid is the most common mixed CP but there are other combinations as well. CP is a group of disorders and there are no sharp borders between the different varieties of the diseases within the group and combinations can occur in different mixes and of different strengths of each of the components. About 10-20% of all people with cerebral palsey (paulsy) have mixed cerbal palsy. |
